For Immediate Release, Circle MT—The McCone Conservation District, in partnership with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), invite you to a Natural Resource Issues and Concerns—Local Working Group (LWG) meeting.
The meeting will be held on Monday, February 23, 2015 from 6pm-8pm at the McCone County Fairgrounds in Circle. It is open to the public, agency partners, farm, livestock, and wildlife groups. Anyone with agricultural interests and natural resource issues in McCone County is encouraged to attend.
LWG meetings are held to identify natural resource concerns in the county. Local representation creates strong grassroots support towards the planning, design and implementation of sound conservation practices to enhance a full range of natural resources. Topics may include special target areas or specific concerns such as soil health, range health, noxious weeds, wildlife habitat, eligible conservation practices, need for new and innovative conservation practices, cost-share rates on conservation programs, and public outreach and information efforts.
Ideas generated from the LWG meeting provide input for NRCS’s Fiscal Year 2016 programs and help the agency to tailor natural resource programs such as EQIP to meet locally identified needs. The McCone Conservation District also utilizes and prioritizes issues as they set their annual plan of operations and budget.
Without your input, natural resource issues may not be addressed. Please join us in developing an inventory of natural resource concerns and issues that still needs to be addressed in our district. Help us direct Farm Bill programs and other programs toward natural resource sustainability.
